September 20, 2011Creative and Uncreative Prayer (Ask Doc)Q: What are creative and uncreative prayers? A: An uncreative prayer is repetitive and selfish. A creative prayer has meaning. I suppose any prayer that is selfish or purely ritualistic could be viewed as uncreative prayer. And, of course, creative prayer can take many forms. I see it as prayer that flows out of meditation and reflection and consists of the believer’s intense awareness that the Holy Spirit is directing the subject and intent of his prayer.
